Arsenal’s busy summer

With the European Championships now over, attention has now turned to the transfer window and pre-season, ahead of the beginning of the new Premier League season on August 13th.

Arsenal have already kicked off their summer business, bringing in young full-back Nuno Tavares from Benfica, but hope to complete much more before the window slams shut at the end of August.

Two players that the north London outfit have been heavily linked with in the past weeks are Albert Sambi Lokonga, a 20-year-old midfielder from Anderlecht, and Brighton defender Ben White. As of yet, no official unveilings have been made, but that could be set to change.

More announcements soon?

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, another announcement is only a matter of time.

As per Romano’s most recent update, “Sambi Lokonga can be considered an Arsenal player”, with paperwork having been signed three days ago. Indeed, he suggests that there will be an official announcement “soon”.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s pursuit of Ben White is “progressing”, although it is far from the done deal that was suggested days ago, according to Romano.

Looking further ahead, Arsenal were seemingly handed a boost in their pursuit of Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli when the club’s CEO mentioned Arsenal as an interested party. However, Romano reports that Locatelli has his heart set on remaining in Italy and moving to Juventus, which will deal Mikel Arteta and co. a hefty blow in their search for a new midfielder.
