Ferdinand tells Newcastle who to sign

Another day, another lot of players being touted as options for new-money, Newcastle United.

The Magpies are of course now owned by the SAPIF, which means that they are the richest club in the world by some distance.

So, of course, it is expected that the once cash-strapped Magpies will become one of the biggest spenders in Europe over the coming years, much like Manchester City did when they were taken over.

Following the takeover, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has named three Premier League players who Newcastle should target:

“I’d be going to try and make like a mad couple of signings, like huge, that I think would be gettable. I’d be looking at people like Raheem Sterling.

“Raheem Sterling’s not playing regularly, I’d go ask him the question. I’d go and ask Declan Rice, ‘What’s going on?’

“Them two would be the first two on my list, and I’d go all out to go and get them. And then I’d be trying to get people like Jesse Lingard, who’s in and around the Man United squad.  It’s unrealistic until you ask the question. I’d be going out there to get answers from these types of players and then you work your way down your list.”

Elsewhere, French outlet RMC Sport report that Newcastle have been in contact with the entourage of Leicester defender, Wesley Fofana.

The 20-year-old centre-back is said to be becoming a priority for Newcastle’s new owners, who are believed to have let Leicester know that a concrete offer could come in the coming weeks once Fofana returns from injury.
